About Paul Schmitt: Profile of a Venture Capitalist

Mr. Schmitt joined PA Early Stage in June 1999 as Managing Director. He is the former Chief Executive of three different healthcare companies. Over the years, he has raised over $100 million through private placements, an initial public stock offering, joint ventures and corporate partnerships. His experience includes serving as President and Chief Executive Officer of Chrysalis International Corporation, a company he formed in 1996 through a merger of DNX Corporation and BioClin International. Chrysalis was later merged with Phoenix International, Inc.

 

Mr. Schmitt joined DNX as that company's first President and Chief Executive Officer in 1988, led the company through an initial public offering in 1991, and became its Chairman in 1994. Before that, he was President of Biolectron, Inc. Prior to that, he gained several years of management experience at the BOC Health Care Group. He started his managerial career in 1974 at Nabisco, Inc.
