Before coming to the United States in 1994, Zhu was a Wellcome Trust Research Fellow at Oxford Brookes University in England where he obtained his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering. In 2003, he earned an MBA from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota.
