PA Early Stage Announces Promotion of Four to Partner

Wayne, PA – July 28, 2004 – PA Early Stage Partners, a family of venture capital funds that invests in early stage technology and life sciences companies, announced today that it has promoted four key investment team members to the role of Partner: Stephen H. Barnes, Dean E. Miller, Scott D. Nissenbaum, and Guy W. Winters.

 

"Given our early-stage focus and our emphasis on the northern-half of the MidAtlantic, we need an investment team with very broad business expertise, the ability to learn and lead in a variety of fields, and the capacities to help develop young

companies," said Rob McCord, Managing Director and PA Early Stage co-founder. "The partners whom we have just promoted have these abilities, and their promotions recognize outstanding contributions to our organization and our portfolio companies."

 

Stephen H. Barnes joined PA Early Stage Partners in 2000 as Chief Financial Officer and gained the additional title of Principal in 2000. Prior to joining PA Early Stage, Mr. Barnes had been Controller and Director of Investor Relations at Voxware, a publicly traded, early stage speech-recognition technology company. At Voxware, he worked closely with senior management to analyze strategic, operational, marketing and financial decisions. Prior, Mr. Barnes was most recently a Manager with KPMG, where he served early stage technology and life sciences companies in the firm's assurance practice. Mr. Barnes earned a B.S. in accountancy from Villanova University and an M.B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School, and is a CPA. He is currently on the Boards of Directors of iJET Travel Intelligence, Chaperone Technologies, and the Philadelphia Chapter of the Private Equity CFO Association.
