Logical Therapeutics is currently based in Pittsburgh, but will be move to the Boston area in a few months to have better access to biotech talent. "Boston is the home to hundreds of companies that look a lot like Logical Therapeutics," Green said.

 

Currently, the company has only two employees - Green, a former business development official at the University of Pittsburgh, and Chief Executive Mitchell Fink, the founder of Critical Therapeutics Inc. - but will be looking to expand to 10 by early 2008.

 

She said that what helps Logical Therapeutics stand out from other drug start-ups is its mix of compounds, all in-licensed. "We have an excellent mix of later-stage and early-stage companies, which helps spread the risk profile," she said.

 

 

 

Green said that she also believes that its focus on inflammatory diseases is a strong selling point. "Science is teaching us that inflammation plays a serious role in diseases that we didn't think of as inflammation before," such as obesity and diabetes, she said.
