Based in Allentown, Pa., AANetcom delivers System on a Chip (SOC) solutions for high-speed, serial communication integrated circuits. These chips feature unprecedented levels of integration, performance, scalability and aggregate bandwidth at a relatively low cost--allowing the web, for example, to deliver higher bandwidth and faster speed. AANetcom was co-founded in September 1997 by Kal Shastri, Ph.D., and nine others who have made pioneering contributions in the field of high-speed serial communications. PMC-Sierra (NASDAQ:PMCS) acquired the company in March 2000 in a transaction valued at approximately $900 million. This opportunity will help AANetcom to reach its goal of providing next generation IC solutions that enhance the performance of network and communication systems.
