OraSure develops, manufactures and markets oral specimen collection devices and diagnostic products using its proprietary oral fluid technologies. The Company's primary focus is on the detection of drugs of abuse and of antibodies of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus ("HIV"), the cause of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome ("AIDS"). In May 2000, STC Technologies was acquired by publicly traded Epitope in a stock deal valued at approximately $255 million. In September 2000, Epitope became Orasure Technologies (Nasdaq: OSUR).
